Over 250 secondary school girls from Lagos City College and Wesley Girls College in Yaba, Lagos State, have benefited from the Big Sister Programme, an initiative designed to equip young women with financial literacy skills and boost their confidence.

The program, led by the Women in Management, Business, and Public Service (WIMBIZ), aims to inspire girls aged 14 to 18 to dream big, build self-confidence, and develop essential life skills.

Through mentorship from successful women, the girls learned about financial management, career planning, and leadership development. The program also provided them with opportunities to network and connect with like-minded individuals.

Mercy Akiya, a national robotics competition winner and participant in the program, expressed her gratitude for the experience. She said the program has inspired her to become a change-maker and challenge gender stereotypes in the workplace.

WIMBIZ’s efforts to empower young women through the Big Sister Programme are a valuable contribution to addressing gender inequality and promoting women’s leadership in Nigeria.
