The Egyptian superstar picked up a knock during Egypt’s opening AFCON match, prompting an initial two-game absence diagnosis. However, a subsequent X-ray revealed a more significant issue, forcing Salah to withdraw from the tournament’s group stage.
In a bid to expedite his recovery, Salah will return to Liverpool on Wednesday for an “intensive rehabilitation program” under the club’s medical team. This decision was made in conjunction with the Egyptian FA, prioritizing the best possible treatment for Salah.
“The injury, which is worse than first feared, forced the forward from the field in the first half of the Africa Cup of Nations fixture with Ghana and an agreement has been reached with the Egyptian FA for Salah to undergo treatment in Liverpool.”
