The Ogun State government has reiterated its unwavering commitment to fostering an enabling environment that nurtures the growth and success of businesses operating within the state. This assurance was conveyed by the Commissioner for Industry, Trade, and Investment, Mr. Adebola Sofela, during a tour of agencies and markets under the ministry’s supervision, accompanied by the Permanent Secretary, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, and other senior officials.

Expressing the Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s dedication to propelling the growth of all categories of businesses and attracting private capital to the state, Commissioner Sofela emphasized, “Small businesses will not be overlooked as we continue our efforts to create a business climate conducive to their flourishing.”

Addressing the state of the Oba Lipede Ultra-Modern Market, recently renovated by the government following damage caused by a rainstorm, the Commissioner asserted, “The government is committed to the prosperity of its people and will continue to take the necessary steps to alleviate the plight of affected traders.”

Sofela encouraged traders to form a collective to insure their goods, highlighting the cost-effectiveness of group insurance policies compared to individual coverage. He also appealed to traders to collaborate with the government by meeting their rental obligations and maintaining market hygiene standards, discouraging the improper disposal of waste in water channels.

Engr. Mike Akingbade, President of the Ogun State Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines, and Agriculture (OGUNCCIMA), welcomed the Commissioner to the OGUNCCIMA complex during a brief visit. Akingbade expressed gratitude for the Dapo Abiodun administration’s unwavering support, particularly for the Fish/Aquaculture Fair and various trade fairs, stating, “We’ve never had it so good.”

During his visit to the Food Crops Marketing Board and Gateway Trading Company, the Commissioner assured the agencies of the ministry’s support in enhancing their performance and achieving self-sustainability, emphasizing that the two entities would not engage in direct competition with industries operating within the state.

The Commissioner’s tour encompassed the Food Crops Marketing Board, Gateway Trading Company, Oba Lipede Ultra-Modern Market, Kuto, and the June 12 Market Panseke in Abeokuta.
