The Nigerian government, through the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), is taking significant steps to boost local electric vehicle (EV) production. The agency is exploring a collaborative partnership with a Moroccan firm, E-move Vehicles Company, to establish EV manufacturing facilities in Nigeria.
This strategic move aims to reduce Nigeria’s reliance on imported vehicles, create jobs, and contribute to the country’s transition to a greener economy. By leveraging Morocco’s expertise in EV technology and battery manufacturing, Nigeria can accelerate its own EV development and production capabilities.
The NADDC’s collaboration with E-move Vehicles Company and Univers Acier Steel, a steel manufacturer, is expected to drive local component manufacturing and enhance the overall automotive ecosystem in Nigeria. This partnership aligns with the government’s vision of a self-sufficient automotive industry and a cleaner transportation sector.
Through this initiative, Nigeria aims to position itself as a major player in the global EV market, leveraging its abundant natural resources and strategic location.
