The Lagos State Government has taken a significant step towards enhancing its revenue collection efforts by training 450 revenue officers on the Lagos Revenue Portal (LRP) and its AI-powered chatbot, Madam Shikini.

The training, organized by the Office of the Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, aimed to equip revenue officers with the necessary skills to effectively utilize these digital tools and contribute to the state’s revenue growth.

Speaking at the training event, Special Adviser on Taxation and Revenue, Ogungbo Opeyemi, commended the participants for their dedication and emphasized the crucial role they play in achieving the state’s revenue targets. He highlighted the importance of the LRP, a key initiative launched by Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in streamlining revenue collection processes across all government agencies.

“As we embark on this crucial training, we are reminded of the importance of aligning ourselves with the statewide mandate that requires the integration of all revenue-generating MDAs under a single, cohesive revenue framework,” Ogungbo stated.

The training focused on the significance of the Unique Payer ID, a crucial component of the LRP that enables secure and transparent tracking of revenue transactions across all platforms.

Akintayo Sanwo-Olu, Special Adviser to the Governor on Corporate Finance and Strategy, emphasized the importance of tax compliance and ongoing reforms. He stressed the need for all civil servants to understand their roles in meeting revenue targets and effectively utilizing the state’s budget.

This training initiative underscores the Lagos State Government’s commitment to leveraging technology to enhance revenue collection, improve efficiency, and ultimately strengthen the state’s financial position.
