Lagos Employers Face January 31st Deadline for Annual Tax Returns

0

The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has issued a reminder to all employers in the state to file their annual tax returns for the 2024 financial year by January 31, 2025. This deadline is in accordance with the Personal Income Tax Act, which mandates employers to submit detailed annual returns of all employee emoluments, including taxes deducted and remitted.

“Submitting returns on or before the deadline ensures compliance with the law and supports accurate revenue tracking, which is essential for Lagos State’s fiscal planning and sustainability,” said Dr. Ayodele Subair, Executive Chairman of LIRS.

To facilitate the filing process, LIRS has emphasized the use of its online e-Tax portal (https://etax.lirs.net) for all submissions. Manual submissions are no longer accepted. Employers are also reminded to include the Payer ID of all employees in their returns. 1
