Apple’s iPhone SE lineup has long been a popular choice for those seeking a more affordable iPhone experience. While the current iPhone SE (2022) offers excellent performance and a compact design, it also retains the outdated iPhone 8 chassis and Touch ID technology. However, recent leaks suggest that the upcoming iPhone SE 4 might finally bring about a significant design overhaul, bringing it in line with Apple’s more modern smartphones.

According to MacRumors, the iPhone SE 4, codenamed Ghost, is expected to adopt a modified iPhone 14 chassis, replacing the familiar iPhone 8 design. This would mean a larger screen, a display notch, and the transition from Touch ID to Face ID for authentication. While the overall dimensions of the chassis might remain similar to the iPhone 14, the iPhone SE 4 is tipped to be slightly lighter due to its single rear camera setup.

Speaking of cameras, the iPhone SE 4 is rumored to feature a 48-megapixel rear camera, a significant upgrade from the current model’s 12-megapixel sensor. The rear panel is also said to closely resemble the iPhone 14, except for the single camera.

In addition to the design and camera upgrades, the iPhone SE 4 is also expected to come with a few additional features. Previous reports have suggested that it might adopt the dedicated Action button from the iPhone 15 Pro models, which can be programmed to perform various functions. Additionally, the iPhone SE 4 is expected to ditch the Lightning port in favor of a USB Type-C port, aligning it with EU regulations and Apple’s current lineup of smartphones.

While Apple has yet to officially confirm the existence or release date of the iPhone SE 4, the growing number of leaks suggests that it might be closer to launch than previously anticipated. If these leaks prove accurate, the iPhone SE 4 could be a compelling option for those seeking a more affordable iPhone experience with a modern design and enhanced features.
