In a grand celebration marking its 20th anniversary, Bells University recently hosted an inspiring symposium focused on empowering Nigeria’s youth to lead Africa into a digital future. Dubbed La Exposición de Bells , the event brought together students, alumni, industry leaders, and educators to reflect on the institution’s achievements and chart a course for tomorrow.

Speaking at the event, keynote speaker Dr. Bayo Oke emphasized the pivotal role of Generation Z in shaping the continent’s destiny. “We are here to celebrate bells at 20,” he began, “but more importantly, we are here to prepare our young people for a future that is already unfolding—a future driven by technology, machines, and innovation.”

Dr. Oke highlighted the unique qualities of Gen Z, noting their curiosity and adaptability as essential traits for navigating the challenges ahead. “This is no longer an age where you just tell them what to do; they will ask ‘why?’” he said with admiration. “Their relentless questioning and eagerness to explore make them perfectly suited for a world where humans and machines coexist seamlessly.”

The symposium featured interactive sessions aimed at equipping young leaders with intangible skills necessary for success. According to Dr. Oluwadamilola Alabi, staff administrator, this initiative aligns with Bells’ mission to nurture leadership potential among students. “Our goal is to draw out their abilities, guide them, and show them the ropes,” she explained. “Through events like the Leadership Summit and networking sessions, we aim to empower these young minds to take charge of their futures.”

A standout moment was the exhibition showcasing innovative projects developed by Bells students. From AI prototypes to creative ventures in fashion design and music production, attendees were treated to a glimpse of the diverse talents emerging from the university.

Architect Okon Edikan-Michael, a proud alumnus, praised the institution’s transformation over the years. “When I was an undergraduate, it wasn’t as glamorous as it is now,” he recalled. “The current administration has done wonders in improving infrastructure, fostering networking opportunities, and maintaining academic excellence.” He added that Bells’ architecture department stands tall as one of the best in Nigeria, consistently excelling in national competitions.

As the evening concluded with a gala dinner, organizers expressed hope that this milestone would propel Bells University further onto the global stage. For Abarikwu Anwilika Ebere, who played a key role in planning the event, the message was clear: “Our aim is to bring Bells to the spotlight, place it on the map, and exhibit what we’ve achieved over the years.”

With its unwavering commitment to nurturing talent and fostering innovation, Bells University is undoubtedly poised to remain a beacon of hope for Nigeria’s next generation of trailblazers.
