Taiwo Mati, a former West African table tennis champion, has made a significant move in his career by joining the French Pro B club Le Havre. This move is aimed at helping him regain his place in the Nigerian national team and elevate his playing level.

Mati, who last represented Nigeria at the 2023 African Games, believes that competing in the more competitive French league will enhance his skills and improve his chances of returning to the national team. “My target is to improve and play as many matches as possible. The French leagues, both Pro A and B, are more competitive than the Portuguese league,” he said.

To further bolster his ranking and increase his visibility, Mati plans to participate in more World Table Tennis (WTT) events. “I intend to go to more WTT events and earn more ranking points. By doing so, I’m sure I’ll be back on the national team,” he added.

Since joining Le Havre, Mati has quickly become an integral part of the team. In their league opener against Nice, they secured a 3-2 victory, setting a positive tone for their quest for promotion to Pro A. “I will also ensure I train regularly with top players in France to improve my game. I am so excited that I am getting closer to my dream of playing in the best league in the world,” he enthused.

The French League Pro B is renowned for its fast-paced and thrilling matches, showcasing the exceptional talent and skill of professional table tennis players from across France. It is not only a celebration of the sport but also a gathering of passionate fans who come together to support their favorite teams and players. The electrifying atmosphere in the arena is filled with cheers, applause, and anticipation as spectators witness intense competition.

Overall, the French League Pro B is a must-watch tournament for table tennis enthusiasts, offering a captivating blend of skill, athleticism, and sportsmanship.
