Stakeholders across the energy sector, including regulators and industry leaders, will gather at NOG Energy Week 2024 to focus on solutions for Sub-Saharan Africa’s energy market. The five-day event, held from June 30th to July 4th, 2024 at the International Conference Centre, ICC, Abuja, will have the theme “Showcasing Opportunities, Driving Investment, Meeting Energy Demand”.
“African countries like Ghana and Nigeria are investing in natural gas infrastructure to address energy poverty, environmental concerns, and drive industrialization,” stated Mr. Wemimo Oyelana, Country Director, Portfolio Director (Africa), and event organizer, in a press statement.
Ghana’s Minister of Energy, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, will participate in NOG Energy Week 2024, highlighting the need for competitive financing in natural gas projects. Nigeria, with over 200TCF of gas reserves, is focusing on a gas strategy to power industrialization and economic growth.
Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) Executive Vice President for Upstream, Mr. Oritsemeyiwa Eyesan, emphasizes the organization’s plans to increase domestic gas use for power generation and manufacturing support.
“Leveraging natural gas for economic growth is key to transforming West Africa’s energy sector. Gas-powered industrialization will boost the region’s energy transition,” Oyelana noted.
Stakeholders at NOG Energy Week 2024 can expect discussions on attracting international funding for Nigeria’s energy sector, optimizing natural gas as the fuel of choice, and driving industrialization for economic growth. “NOG Energy Week contributes significantly to energy policy development and implementation,” Oyelana added.
