The Regional Off-Grid Electricity Access Project (ROGEAP) , in collaboration with Ecobank Nigeria , is set to empower 50 small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in the solar energy sector through a three-day Entrepreneurship Business Training workshop in Lagos.
According to a statement released on Monday, the training aims to equip participants with essential technical, financial, and business management skills needed to thrive in the rapidly growing renewable energy market. The workshop will cover critical topics such as the structure of ROGEAP, grant opportunities, applications of off-grid solar systems, quality compliance, and strategies for market expansion.
Tunde Dawodu , Divisional Head, FCT/North at Ecobank Nigeria, emphasized the bank’s commitment to supporting SMEs, which play a pivotal role in driving economic growth.
“As a bank, we recognize the significant contributions of SMEs to job creation and GDP growth. When SMEs succeed, everyone benefits — the entrepreneurs, the bank, and the nation,” he said.
Dawodu added that the training aligns with Ecobank’s Ellevate Program and Single Market Trade Hub , which provide tailored financial products, digital tools, and strategic guidance to help SMEs expand into broader markets.
Salamatu Baba , ROGEAP Project Fund Manager, highlighted the transformative impact of the workshop on West Africa’s energy landscape.
“This training is more than just a learning event; it’s an investment in clean energy’s future. By empowering solar entrepreneurs with knowledge, tools, and networks, we are fostering a resilient ecosystem to drive energy access and create jobs in underserved communities,” she stated.
