Dangote Cement Plc, a subsidiary of the Dangote Group, has been lauded by representatives in the House Committee on Solid Minerals for its significant contributions to Nigeria’s industrialization drive.

During a recent visit to the company’s Obajana plant in Kogi State, members of the House Committee commended Dangote Cement’s substantial economic impact on the country’s cement sector.

The Chairman, Gaza Gbefwi, highlighted the need for collaboration between political leaders and investors to accelerate Nigeria’s industrialization efforts.

Gbefwi acknowledged Dangote Cement’s substantial investments, job creation, and tax contributions, emphasizing the importance of collective efforts to ensure economic progress in the country.

The Group Managing Director of Dangote Cement Plc, Arvind Pathak, explained that the company’s operations are significantly influenced by foreign exchange rates due to the dollar-driven nature of its inputs, such as machinery, spare parts, gas, and gypsum.

Pathak further revealed that Dangote Cement has remained committed to its employees’ welfare, increasing their salaries by 21.3% in 2022, 47.5% in 2023, and 63.2% in 2024. Additionally, the company has invested in alternative fuel projects, such as using biomass waste, to reduce its environmental impact and contribute to global efforts to combat climate change.

Beyond its industrial contributions, Dangote Cement has also demonstrated a strong commitment to corporate social responsibility. The company has implemented various community development initiatives, including the construction of schools, hospitals, and boreholes, as well as the provision of scholarships and empowerment programs.

Furthermore, Dangote Cement has taken significant steps towards sustainable practices. The company has invested in CNG trucks to reduce its carbon footprint and has also implemented alternative fuel projects utilizing biomass waste, contributing to efforts to mitigate global warming. Additionally, Dangote Cement has incorporated advanced technologies and maintenance strategies to enhance operational efficiency and uphold its social commitments.
