“Beyond training, we are actively engaged in advocacy, partnerships, and membership development,” Olaniyan said. “We have collaborated with key institutions like the Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board (NCDMB) to build indigenous capacity in marine surveying.”
He added that the Centre remains focused on strengthening industry standards, expanding student enrollment, and fostering partnerships to provide graduates with access to practical experience and job opportunities.
Olaniyan described the postgraduate diploma program as comprehensive, combining theoretical knowledge with practical skills to prepare maritime professionals for success. However, he acknowledged challenges such as limited public awareness and the need to enhance industry partnerships. Despite these hurdles, he expressed confidence that ongoing reforms and strategic initiatives would address these issues effectively.
The Centre for Marine Surveyors in Nigeria is a professional organization established to sanitize the marine surveying profession and provide a platform for self-regulation, ensuring that practitioners adhere to high standards of competence and ethics.
