Cascador, a transformative programme for mid-stage entrepreneurs in Africa, has reiterated its dedication to empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs through substantial financial support, leadership training, and networking opportunities. The organisation’s recent alumni meeting in Ikeja highlighted its goal of fostering impact-driven entrepreneurship across the continent.
According to Cascador’s founder, Dave DeLucia, the programme is designed to empower entrepreneurs who are tackling societal challenges through innovative for-profit ventures. “We empower entrepreneurs to solve problems and create jobs by developing leadership skills, financial acumen, and connections,” DeLucia explained.
The Director of Cascador, Trish Thomas, outlined improvements to the programme’s 2024 curriculum, which now includes practical projects, such as a three-week customer research initiative. This hands-on approach allows entrepreneurs to apply their findings in real-world business scenarios, fostering deeper learning and stronger bonds among cohort members.
In a significant move, Cascador awarded $5,000 personal development stipends to each 2024 cohort member to support their growth amid Nigeria’s challenging business environment. The programme concluded with a pitch day, awarding $50,000 in prizes to outstanding participants.
Cascador’s commitment to empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs extends beyond its programme. The organisation plans to provide substantial capital, ongoing education, and mentorship to its alumni through additional funding. New initiatives will include annual loans and investment opportunities to help founders scale their businesses.
As Cascador prepares to deepen its engagement with alumni and enhance its 2025 programme features, it remains a vital source of support for entrepreneurs striving to create lasting impact in Nigeria and beyond.
