Baobab Nigeria, a leading microfinance bank, has organized a one-day internship program for members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) and students as part of its 2024 Customer Service Week celebration. The internship was open to customers of the bank’s digital savings platform, Jollof+.

The internship provided participants with an immersive experience, allowing them to learn from industry experts in various departments such as finance, marketing, creative design, and cybersecurity. The program also included a career seminar, a tour of Baobab’s headquarters, and networking opportunities with senior executives.

Eric Ntumba, the Acting Chief Executive Officer of Baobab Microfinance Bank, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering young Nigerians through both financial products and opportunities for skill development. He noted that the internship was designed to help young people build essential career skills and promote financial literacy.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn from professionals in different fields. One intern, Zachariah Michael, shared his experience of learning about digital marketing, including content creation and social media strategy.

Opeyemi Oluwadare, a student from Obafemi Awolowo University, highlighted the Ajo feature on the Jollof+ app as her favorite. She appreciated the app’s restriction on withdrawals, which encourages disciplined savings.

This internship initiative is part of Baobab’s broader efforts to engage with its customers and demonstrate the value of the Jollof+ app beyond financial savings.
