Axxela Limited, a leading gas and power portfolio company in sub-Saharan Africa, has announced a significant organizational restructuring to accelerate growth and enhance its position as a key player in Nigeria’s energy transition.
This strategic move involves transitioning to a group structure comprising independent business units, each led by a dedicated managing director. This empowered model aims to drive individual business units towards ambitious growth targets while strengthening Axxela’s overall market leadership.
The newly established business units and their respective leaders include:
- Gas Distribution: Led by Kehinde Alabi, formerly Chief Operating Officer.
- Gas Midstream Infrastructure: Led by Franklin Umole, formerly Director of Business Development.
- Integrated Power: Overseen by Olufisayo Duduyemi, previously Chief Strategy & Services Officer.
- Regional Business: Headed by Timothy Ononiwu, who will also continue to serve as Group Chief Financial Officer.
Furthermore, Tuoyo Ejueyitchie, formerly General Counsel and Company Secretary, will lead the Group’s Corporate Operations.
Ogbemi Ofuya, the newly appointed Group Chief Executive Officer, will spearhead this reorganisation. With extensive experience in the oil and gas industry and a private equity background, Ofuya is well-positioned to guide Axxela through this transformative phase.
“We are on the right side of history, a pivotal moment in Africa, where we must elevate the importance of natural gas as a transition fuel and a driver of industrial growth across the continent,” said Ofuya. “This restructuring positions us to deepen domestic gas utilization, improve supply reliability, and strengthen our capacity to meet evolving market demands.”
Axxela emphasized its commitment to supporting Nigeria’s energy transition agenda and delivering innovative energy solutions to the market. This reorganisation signifies a crucial step in Axxela’s journey to further strengthen its position as a leader in the Nigerian energy sector.
