The Managing Director of Sunbeth, Olasunkanmi Owoyemi, has emphasized the critical importance of attracting and selecting the right talent to maintain quality output and accelerate service delivery. Speaking at the recent induction ceremony for new members of the Nigerian British Chamber of Commerce (NBCC) in Lagos, Owoyemi highlighted the significance of prioritizing key skill sets in enhancing operational efficiency.

Represented by the Head of Business Development and Business Finance at Sunbeth Global Concept, Hakeem Sanusi, Owoyemi stated that by focusing on key competencies, organizations can streamline their operations and achieve higher levels of success. He emphasized that this approach ensures that businesses operate at peak efficiency, enabling them to maintain a competitive edge in the market.

Sunbeth, a company specializing in export and trade, has firsthand experience in the importance of talent acquisition. The firm has invested in training staff, farmers, and local agents to ensure that their products meet international standards. By sourcing seeds locally and focusing on exports like cocoa and cashews, Sunbeth has contributed to the development of the Nigerian agricultural sector.

Owoyemi also addressed the challenges facing the cocoa industry, noting that migration and discontinuation have led to a decline in the number of cocoa farmers. However, he emphasized that Nigeria offers numerous opportunities for those willing to actively seek and leverage them.

Professor Lere Baale, the Chief Executive Officer of Business School Netherlands International, echoed Owoyemi’s sentiments, highlighting the immense potential of the African continent. Baale emphasized the need for indigenous people to take advantage of the opportunities available within Africa, rather than allowing foreigners to dominate the markets.

He identified key challenges facing the continent, including infrastructure, housing, transportation, and opportunities in construction, real estate, and urban development. Baale proposed smart cities as an innovative solution to these issues, emphasizing the importance of technological advancements in addressing local challenges.

The President and Chairman of Council at the NBCC, Mr. Ray Atelly, welcomed the new inductees and urged them to actively participate in the chamber’s activities. He emphasized the importance of recognizing their roles as members and working towards achieving their goals.

The induction ceremony highlighted the significance of attracting and selecting the right talent for organizations to maintain quality output and achieve success. By prioritizing key skill sets and investing in training and development, businesses can enhance their operational efficiency and contribute to the growth and development of the Nigerian economy.
