The African Marine Environment Sustainability Initiative (AFMESI) is set to host a two-day workshop in Lagos later this month to train 150 people on how to harness the potential of the blue economy. The workshop, themed “Achieving Blue Growth in a Changing Climate: Integrating the Coastal Communities,” aims to empower early and mid-career groups in the maritime sector.
Dr. Felicia Mogo, the president of AFMESI and organizer of the event, explained that the free workshop will provide participants with the opportunity to learn, network, and collaborate on shaping the future of Africa’s blue economy. The workshop will bring together key
stakeholders and experts from governments, industry, academia, and civil society organizations to discuss strategies for sustainability and value addition to blue ecosystems in Africa.
The workshop is expected to be a valuable platform for participants to gain knowledge and skills in the blue economy sector and contribute to the sustainable development of Africa’s coastal communities. Sources and related content
